Living a day like Blair Waldorf – the "mean and ferocious" Queen Bee of Manhattan's Upper-East Side.
Gossip girl here, you’re one and only source into the – scratch that, it’s me Lyxie and this post is my first entry for my blog. If you are not a Gossip Girl fan, you might be wondering who Blair Waldorf is. But before anything else, Gossip Girl is a T.V. series that was based on the Gossip Girl novel series written by Cecily von Ziegesar. The series was narrated by the omniscient blogger, known as the “Gossip Girl” (with the voice of Kristen Bell), and revolves around the lives of privileged upper-class adolescents living in Upper-East Side, Manhattan starring Blake Lively (Serena Van der Woodsen), Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf), Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass), and Penn Badgley (Dan Humphrey), which aired on screen from September 19, 2007, until December 17, 2012.

Moving on, let’s give back the spotlight to Blair because she loves it. Known as the Queen Bee of Manhattan’s social scene, Blair Waldorf was described to be “a girl of extremes”. A New York socialite who possesses both snobbish and sensitive sides [but a good girl at heart according to the character portrayal, Leighton Meester]. Despite Blair’s “mean and ferocious” character, she is also notorious in giving life lessons which are sophisticated and savage at the same time. It’s no surprise that girls my age love her so much.
Ever since I started watching Gossip Girl in 2016, I can never get over about the show; especially Blair’s character who is my favorite, if you can’t state the obvious. This led me to drag my forever-series-fangirl-bff now my long-distance-bff, Argilee (@_argilee123) whom I also refer to as “S” an endearment by Blair to her best friend Serena, to binge-watch the show. Since then we acted like the two best friends whenever at school, judging people in the perspective of the two (we know, we know, that’s not a good example).

Blair Waldorf’s character had a great impact on how I perceive and make decisions in life. I remember back then when our teacher in Personal Development asked us to name and describe our idol, I immediately described her without hesitation. Likewise, when our Philosophy teacher told us to choose our philosophy in life and have it printed on a t-shirt, I had Blair's famous quote: “If you really want something, you don’t stop for anyone or anything until you get it” (which actually is my philosophy in life) written on the t-shirt.
Speaking about school, guess who I portrayed when we had our creative shot pictorial for our yearbook? That’s right, none other than Blair Waldorf! I had so much fun conceptualizing my creative shot. From Blair’s iconic pose, facial expressions, outfits, and props, I had it all planned out. But Lyxie, isn’t it too expensive to dress up like Blair Waldorf just for a day? Na-aah! Even if Blair’s fashion style requires some price-y tags, you can never go wrong stealing her style for less (see photo below).
Style Steal for Blair Waldorf:
Headband – borrowed it from my sister
White long sleeves – H&M
Tie – borrowed it from my sister
Black overall dress – H&M
Coat – H&M
Gloves – H&M
Handbag – borrowed it from my mom
Stockings – H&M
Shoes – Milano
As you guys can see, you can absolutely dress up like Blair without robbing a bank. (Let’s just not show this picture to Blair…) Good thing Blair is just a fictional character because if she isn’t, she would totally disagree with me.

Dressing up like Blair Waldorf even just for a day was such a great experience. But even if I can’t dress up like her every day, I could still channel her attitude within me, which is not that hard since she is a girl filled with positivism and strong will, which is what I admire the most about her. And maybe sometime in the future, I could redress-up like her, but this time it will be in the streets of Upper-East Side, Manhattan (perhaps I’ll write a blog about it whenever that time comes). Until then! You know you love me.
